Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, modifies the shape and function of the nose to meet aesthetic standards and improve breathing. It can reduce or increase the size, eliminate the nasal hump, change the shape or lift the tip, straighten the nasal bridge, narrow the width of the wings, adjust the angle between the nose and upper lip, correct nostril asymmetry, and align the nasal septum.
Depending on the case's complexity, the surgeon may choose a closed rhinoplasty, accessing the inside of the nose through the nostrils, or an open rhinoplasty, making an incision between the nostrils for better access to the nasal cartilage and bones. A primary rhinoplasty is the first nose surgery, while a secondary rhinoplasty addresses a previously operated nose that didn't achieve the desired results. Complex reconstructions may require a rib cartilage graft.
During an ultrasonic rhinoplasty, the surgeon uses concentrated ultrasound to shape and cut the nasal bones with greater precision than conventional chisel and hammer techniques. Ultrasound affects only bones, not soft tissues, resulting in precise incisions and minimal trauma. This less invasive technique preserves vital structures, reduces inflammation, speeds up recovery, and produces more natural results.
After the surgery, the patient will wear a splint for a few days to prevent movement and ensure optimal aesthetic results. Antibiotics and pain relievers are necessary for a week.

Few patients have perfect facial symmetry. Even if the nose is relatively straight, the symmetry lines of the eyes and mouth may not align, making the nose appear more aligned with one feature than another. The surgeon must decide where to place the nose in relation to these planes to achieve the most aesthetic result.
For patients with asymmetries, a cephalometric study is recommended before the surgery. This study involves taking several photographs to analyze the defects of the nasal pyramid and the harmony of the nose with other facial features from all angles. This allows the surgeon to plan the surgery to correct defects and harmonize the face.
